Flannel Friday

I thought I would try a Flannel Friday post.

This is the flannel story I made for Sandra Boynton's Moo, Baa, La La La
I used clipart for the pics.
Here is the text:
A cow says moo.
A sheep says baa.
Three pigs say la, la, la!
“No, no,” you say, “that’s isn’t right!
Pigs say oink, all day and night.”
Little dogs say ruff, ruff, ruff.
Other dogs say bow, wow, wow.
And cats and kittens say meow.
Quack! Says the duck.
A horse says neigh.
(It’s quiet now, what do you say?”)

Bugs, Bugs, Bugs!

I decided to do bugs today for Toddlertime and yesterday for Head Start outreach with varied success.

Book #1 – Buzz by Wang

Hand out scarves
Flutter, Flutter Butterfly
Tune: “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star”
Flutter, flutter, butterfly. Floating in the bright blue sky.
Floating by for all to see,
Floating by so merrily. Flutter, flutter, butterfly,
Floating in the bright blue sky.

Rhythm of the scarves (song)

Flannel Board –Color Butterfly
Book #2 – In the Tall, Tall, Grass

The Beehive
Here is a beehive
Make a fist
Where are the bees?
Hidden away where nobody sees.
Watch as they come out of their hive—
One, two, three, four, five,
Extend fingers one at a time
They’re alive! Buzzzzzz!
Wiggle your fingers
Book/Song - Itsy Bitsy Spider

My early lit hint was for vocabulary.

I handed out cushions because one girl likes them but my 18 month old boys were playing with them and when I made them stop all heck broke loose. One boy had to leave. So much for trying cushions. Never again!

Piggies!

We had snow yesterday and schools were 2 hour delayed so having 2 kids was pretty good.
I did Pigs today.
Early Lit tip: Narrative skills
Book #1 – Piggy Pie Po
Fingerplay – 5 little piggies (jumping on the bed)
Action song – Piggy Pokey
Book #2 - If you give a Pig a Pancake
Flannel Rhyme – Clean and Squeaky Pigs
6 pigs so squeaky clean, cleanest pigs you’ve ever seen, Wanted to go outside and play [shout: IN THE MUD!] 1 jumped into the mud, landed with a great big THUD! [clap or slap leg] now there are 5 pigs squeaky clean [oink oink] 4 pigs so squeaky clean…etc. I’m a Little Piggy
Sing to: “I’m a Little Teapot”
I’m a little piggy
Short and stout (bend up and down)
Here are my ears (point to ears)
And here is my snout (point to nose)
When I see the yummy food in my pail (rub tummy)
I oink, oink oink (oink!)
and wiggle my tail (wiggle your piggy tails!)

Book #3 –Z-z-zoink!
Book #4 - Piggies

There was an 18 month old and a 3 year old. Since there was only 2 I could do more books.
I was doing okay even though I still have a cold. I could sing okay and I had some caffine right before so my energy was up.

Sick this week...

so I missed doing both Early Head Start/Head Start outreach and Toddlertime. Ugh! Luckily, there was a 2 hour school delay on Tuesday so EHS and HS were closed. Should reschedule for next week.

Big and Little Toddlertime

Had a great crowd today. I took a clue from the evaluations I got last time and added more movement songs and it seemed to help.
Song: Open Shut Them
book: I'm the Biggest Thing in the Ocean
Action songs
I'm a little teapot
This is big, big, big

book:I am (not) Small
Shaker songs:
Wiggy Wiggy Wiggles
Shake your Sillies out
Flannel Song
 Little white duck
book:Five Little Chicks
 Song: What a miracle
Early lit: Vocabulary
The best were teapot, Biggest Thing, and shaker songs.
Very nice one!
