Farm Animals Virtual Storytime

This one I only had 3 kids show up but 6 were registered. This is not unusual. We get many more for specials so we might cut back in the spring.

Here is my agenda:

Hello song

Book 1 : Mrs. Wishy Washy's Farm by Crowley

Song 1 : Wishy Washy Washer Woman by the Learning Station

Book 2 : Farmyard Beat by Craig told with puppets

Song 2 : Old MacDonald with puppets

Book 3: Do Cows Meow? by Yoon

Song 3: Farm Animal Hokey Pokey

Book 4: Barnyard Banter by Fleming

Goodbye song

This was a little weird. The kids didn't show themselves until the end and didn't unmute much so I did with this very little feedback. It felt like I was just practicing. I was hoping using the laptop would make it so I saw the kids more but they haven't got their camera on. I will most likely go back to the Ipad next week. The sound is better etc. One good thing about having no one unmuted is I got through 4 books...that never happens. Next week is Thanskgiving/fall. Then I am off storytime until January. 😀

 Virtual Preschool Storytime

Dogs!

This is my second and it went pretty well. Just a small group of 4 kids.

I had to use the iPad because the laptop's sound is not working well.

Opening song - Hello friends!

Book #1  Motor Miles by Burningham

Song - If you're a dog and you know it

Books #2 - When a Dog is a Dog by Shaskan

Song - One from the left by Jim Gill in honor of election day

Flannel - Dog's Colorful Day by Dodd

Book #3 - The Doghouse by Thomas

Song - There's a dog in school on uke - I just did 3 verses

Goodbye song- Goodbye friends!

I only heard one kid who was unmuted so it felt like a practice session. Also, since I was spotlighted, I could only see myself. Not bad but weird!

 My first virtual Storytime!

I did my old Stand by - PIZZA!

It feels pretty weird to do a storytime on zoom.

Here is what I did:

Hello song

2nd hello song

The little Red Hen Makes a Pizza by Sturges

PIZZA (to bingo)

Hi Pizza Man! by Walter

If you want to eat some pizza clap your hands

Leftover pizza poem/ flannel board

I am a pizza  - with uke

Goodbye song

The kids were on mute a lot of the time and those that weren't were very talkative. I heard they couldn't hear my uke and the song is an echo song so the delay made it weird. They liked the books I think. I might have cut it a little short...30 minutes but that included the getting settled part.

I will have to do some more in November...hope they go as well.

Back to work!

Yesterday was my first day of work since 3/13!

I have worked an hour or 2 each week on timesheets etc. but nothing else.

My library system is doing virtual storytime but we don't need every branch to do it so I have not.

I am not sure how I feel about doing them virtually. They are very cute and I watched a couple on facebook live but not having an audience would just feel weird.

Also, the people doing them are excellent!

We will most likely not do any storytimes until Sept at the earliest. Most likely not until there is a vaccine.

This Blog will be on hiatus until them.

Everyone take care of yourselves!

Green with toddlers

We did a tribute to Green and Ireland today.

Too bad about the corona virus, we only had 3 toddlers today.

Books
Where is the Green Sheep? by Fox

Good Luck Bear by Foley - I did this one with puppets but it didn't work out too well.

Green by Siemans - I showed some photos of green things

Songs
The more we get together
Irish Jig - the toddlers just stood there
Everyone is Irish on St. Patrick's day with instruments
- I got them marching around the room pretty well.

If you're Irish and you know it
What a Miracle

I think some of them were waiting for jumping and counting... it is a favorite.

Flannels
Five little shamrocks
Five little leprechauns

Action rhyme:
Wash your hands - jbrary

Not too bad just hard with so few kids.

Preschool outreach - I like me!

This was the same as toddlers but with different books. I also did bean bags instead of shakers.

Books:
It's okay to make mistakes by Parr
I am enough by Byers - better than with the toddlers
I want your moo by Weiner - very long so I did it first. They liked it pretty well.
Only You can be you by Clarkson - this one talks a little about "the creator" so I hesitated to use it but it seemed to go over pretty well.

Not your typical dragon by Bar-El with puppets - went well

Songs
The more we get together
My energy
If you're happy and you know it
Bean bag Rock
Bean bag shake
Wheels on the bus
Good bye friends

Went pretty well even though I am losing my voice. I used cds rather than my uke. The kids were a little wild but not too bad.
