Toddler time - Shoes and Socks

Just so I can remember what I want to do
This is What My Feet Can Do! (do you know the muffin man)

This is what my feet can do, feet can do, feet can do.

This is what my feet can do
Can you do it too?
Let your feet go hop, hop, hop; hop, hop, hop; hop, hop, hop
Let your feet go hop, hop, hop
All around the room.
Make your feet go jump, jump, jump
Make your feet go jump, jump, jump
All around the room.
Can your feet go tiptoeing, tiptoeing, tiptoeing
Can your feet go tiptoeing
All around the room
Now your feet can sit right down,
Now your feet can sit right down,
Quietly, please.

Colors Toddlertime

This was our first day back after a month off.
I like to do colors for the first one because it is a favorite.

Books:
One by Otoshi
Wow! Said the Owl by Hopgood

Flannel and puppets
Brown Bear Brown Bear by Brown

Songs
The more we get together
What are you wearing
De Colors with instruments
What a miracle
Jumping and counting

The last book was a bust as no one was listening but I didn't care. I didn't have any more rhymes or songs so it was necessary.

21 kids for the first one was pretty good.

Acoustic Song Circle

I had an idea to do this where I would have very loose criteria and people would come and we would play music.

After committing I realized it needed some structure. I did a powerpoint with 11 songs and waited to see who would show up.

I got 5 adults. 1 just sung, 2 guitars, and one ukulele.

Went well. Everyone liked my songs. Next month they will bring songs and I will copy them for everyone. I will also do a power point to be sure there are enough songs. I might do the powerpoint portrait instead of landscape.

Whoo!

End of the ELS season blow out! Food with toddlers

Today was a little tough because my co-worker called out sick and my sub didn't arrive until 10 when Toddlers started. I was a little frazzled but it went well.

Book:
Hi Pizza Man by Walter

Flannel:
The very hungry caterpillar by Carle
I gave the kids a piece of fruit (paper) and they brought them up to the flannel board. Quite a few blank stares and one kid would refused to come up with his orange. But mostly liked.

Songs:
The more we get together with signs
Jumping and  Counting by Gill
I am a pizza on uke
Popcorn from Mr. Jon

Parachute!
They loved it of course. I did these things:
Row Row Row your boat
Itsy bitsy spider
Popcorn
Ring around the rosy..the kids sat on the chute and the parents walked around.

Good ending for the session. 1 month off...they weren't happy about it.

Cats at Toddler storytime

This is a favorite of mine. Since we were off for 2 weeks due to our air conditioning going on the blink I needed to do one I would have fun with.

Books:
What Will Fat Cat Sit On? by Thomas did some signs
Pete the Cat I love my white shoes by Litwin

Songs
The more we get together
Jumping and Counting
The Cat came back with instruments
Little Cat on uke learned signs for it
What a miracle

Flannel
Pete the Cat and his 4 groovy buttons by litwin

Fingerplay
5 little kittens jumping on the bed

I had a small group but they seemed to enjoy themselves. One girl and her grandmother really liked learning the signs.

Birds - Toddler storytime

This one when well. I think I am getting my grove back.

Songs:
The more we get together
Jumping and county
I am a chicken with shakers
Three little birds on Uke with shakers (lyrics on the board. no one sang)
What a miracle

Fingerplay
2 little pretty birds

Books:
Birds by Henkes
Flip Flap Fly by Root (with puppets)

I used a trick I learned at the ALA conference. I sang a song while I walked around with a bag for the kids to put the shakers in. It was not the song I learned at the conference but it worked pretty well.
